Bonno Natural Mānuka Wood Dog Chews will keep your furry friend safely entertained for seemingly endless hours!
A dog loves a stick. Obviously. A natural instinct. But as it turns out, not all sticks are created equal … most are not even sticks.
At Bonno, we proudly source our Mānuka locally in Northland, New Zealand, repurposing wood that was cleared and would be discarded as a by-product of local industries.
We ensure 100% of the tree is used – its bark becomes mulch for landscaping, while sawdust, wood shavings, and off-cuts make perfect fuel for wood-fired pizza ovens, BBQs, and smoking meats, thanks to the strong and unique Mānuka aroma.
It is one of the hardest woods in the world but softer than bone or antler. It has dense aromatic fibres and the chewed-off fragments are edible.

The story of our family business began in 2021 in Kerikeri, a charming town nestled in the historic and beautiful Bay of Islands.
After a successful day’s fishing, the idea was sparked while smoking our day’s catch with the distinctive and aromatic native Mānuka wood.
Rosie, our Border Collie, quietly snuck off with a small piece of it and started chewing in her favourite corner. We expected it to be unsafe, but to our surprise, she was happily gnawing away without any issues.
The ends of the wood had softened and frayed into gentle bristles, almost like a natural toothbrush, and Rosie seemed to love every minute of it.
Inspired by Rosie and her love of that piece of Mānuka, and seeing wooden chewing toys of varying quality everywhere, we set out to create our own dog chew.
